The RLC Story

Our Story...

WHEN did RLC open its doors?

In October of 2000. We were a church plant from Shepherd of the Hills in Porter Ranch.

WHERE did this church first take root?

In the Edward's Town Center Movie Theatres.  For seven years RLC volunteers set up shop in multiple theatres every Sunday for services and children's programming, then packed it all away before the lights dimmed and the 'coming attractions' rolled.

WHY the move to a high school?

Simple, we continued to grow.  All those comfortable theatre seats filled up and we had people sitting in the aisles. So, an alternate location was sought, and in October of 2007 RLC made the move to West Ranch High School where there was ample seating for adults and classroom space for kids. Every Sunday morning for 2 1/2 years we set up for four hours and transformed the gym with staging, lights and hi-def video.

WHAT does the future look like?

In a word, exciting.  In 2005 RLC purchased land on the corner of Newhall Ranch Rd. and Grandview in Valencia and after an 18 month construction process we opened our doors on April 18, 2010. The environmentally-conscious facility has a 1100 seat state of the art auditorium, creative kids' environments, a community focused coffee house, and an outdoor grass-tiered amphitheater.

WHY do we do what we do the way we do it?

We like to say RLC is a 'church unchurched people love to attend". So we strive to meet people in their comfort zone, with messages that deal with everyday issues, hopes, heartbreaks and questions - in other words, real life.  And we do it in ways people can relate to – through media,  music, drama and stories on the weekend and through community in Life Groups during the week.
