RLC Core Values
Welcoming everyone.
We want to remove the obstacles that keep people far from God and help bring people back to Him. We believe church should meet people where they are in life and use contemporary language and popular culture as a means to share the timeless truth of God's Word. (Matthew 9:9-13, Acts 17:19-23, 1 Corinthians 9:19-23)
Following Jesus.
Learning God's Word AND putting it into practice is what following Jesus is all about. (Matthew 7:24-29, 1 Corinthians 8:1-3)
Transforming neighborhoods.
We feel the best way to change the world is to change our neighborhoods...one cul-de-sac at a time. We believe our church should make a positive impact in the neighborhood it is in...and our Life Groups should make a positive impact in the neighborhoods they are in. Church operates best in the context of local community. (Acts 2, 4)
RLC Beliefs
about God...
We believe that the God of the Bible, the only God, has revealed himself as Creator, Judge, Redeemer, and Father. God is infinate in power and wisdom, perfect in holiness, overflowing with love and grace. God is passionate about reconciling people to himself, and he has an eternal plan to restore the universe that cannot be stopped by anyone or anything.
about Jesus...
We believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the divine Son of God, the Lord of the universe, and the only way to God. By his death and resurrection, Jesus delivers us from sin and death, he remains alive today as the leader of his Church, and he will one day return to judge the living and the dead. Jesus' model of intimacy with the Father, obedience to his will, and sacrificial love for people provides the pattern for his followers to imitate.
about the Spirit...
We believe that the Holy Spirit is God's personal presence in the world, the church, and individual believer. The Spirit seals followers of Jesus as part of the new creation, convicts the world of sin and unbelief, and empowers believers to experience, know, become like, and testify to Jesus. The Spirit empowers the church to wage war against the forces of evil.
about the Bible...
We believe that the Bible tells the story of God's efforts to bring salvation to the whole world. As the inspired and authoritative written word of God, the Bible accurately reveals God's nature, his character, and his pursuit of us, as well as our path to experiencing God, knowing him, and becoming the people God created us to be.
about the Church...
We believe that the Church is a community of Jesus' disciples, called out from the world and blessed by God to be a blessing to others. As the body of Christ, the Church is the place where all different types of people come together in the name of Jesus. The Church lives together in community to love God, to love one another, and to continue Jesus' mission in the world.
about Humanity...
We believe that all people are created in the image of God in order to enjoy and reflect his power and love and goodness, but we are unable to do so because we have been corrupted by sin. We are all lost without God and we need Jesus to reconcile us to God and the Holy Spirit to transform us from the inside out.
RLC Practices:
Worship...notice God and respond on a daily basis
Study... read the Bible daily and respond to it
Prayer... practice an ongoing conversation with God
Community... commit to a Life Group in one's community
Outreach... walk with people on their spiritual journey who are not following Jesus
Service... help others in need
